WOW! Sounds like you had a great time Brigitte! The Newark story cracked me up...and Malden isn't much better as you know from experience now! [img]wink.gif[/img] I think the touist place you went for Salme is the one everyone gets roped into and it really is quite chessey. Y=That is ashame too because the town of Salem is really quite and interesting place with many interesting people living there. My BIL lives there and just loves it.

You next trip should be to Washington DC. You could also go on to Williamsburg and see what it is all about. It is like Sturbridge, but I like it even better. The only bummer is NO AG Place! [img]redface.gif[/img]

Congrats on visiting New England! And you got to go in time to see the foliage. I wish I could go back up there, especially to Newport. You should have visited Wickford. Its a cute, little fishing village just across the bay from Newport, they have great shops and some incredible history. (I used to live there so I'm partial to it.) Congrats once again and I hope you enjoy Josefina, I got her for my sister and she is gorgeous.

What a great post! I loved reading every word! You visited so many neat places, and saw so many interesting things. You saw things that I too have never seen in our country (someone else mentioned that in their post).

It sounds like your shopping excursions were very successful, AG-wise and non-AG-wise.

I loved your post. It wasn't too long at all. You are very adventurous to do all that driving around NY. Coming from the Midwest, I only take cabs, mass transit or walk in big cities. I am so glad you had a wonderful trip.

Kirsten: Work Dress, Winter Skirt and Blouse, Snowshoes, Housecoat and Sockor, Sari, spare hair ribbons.
Kaya: apart from the doll and accessories which Kamilla will receive for Christmas I got the Jingle Dress and her food.
Kit: my sister's Christmas present with accessories and the birthday dress - my sister loves that dress.
other bits and pieces: Chocolate Cherry outfit, Coconut's Best Friend outfit and the matching T-shirt and pants for Kamilla, the store special Ski Trip outfit, AGP red sweater and red T-shirt, Coconut's Halloween Cat costume, her AG souvenir t-shirt and Statue of Liberty set, both CD's of the shows, souvenir flowerpot dish from the cafe and the hair care kit.
for my girls: Felicity's, Addy's and Josefina's Christmas dresses and Elizabeth's cape.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">We actually stayed over night on the outskirts of Portland and if your town is on the route of 202 then we might very well have driven through it.

On that note we found the signpostings rather lacking - you always had to know which the nearest town on your route was to find the right way, and I've seen maybe a total of 10 signs with milage to the next big towns. In Europe it's the other way - you have lots of signs pointing in the right direction and also giving the distance. Also that streets suddenly changed their numbers and after some miles back to the old number or you had some hidden sign pointing to the right street but you didn't see it and took the wrong turn. Well, at least that way we got to see some interesting places [img]wink.gif[/img]


Also as many said you haven't travelled so much of your own country, I think it's always that when you go to a foreign place you want to see as much as possible - there are so many places in Austria I haven't seen yet and many tourists have.
